Paperless Budget Meeting: How They Do it in Galveston |

|
August 6, 2007 The Daily News in Galveston County went live with SAXOTECH on Monday, Aug. 6. The 25,000-circulation daily, which was the first newspaper in Texas and created the now-enormous Dallas Morning News as a zoned edition, is using SAXOTECH Editorial and SAXOTECH Archive. 4:46 p.m. CDT: The newsroom just completed its first budget meeting with SAXOTECH. They have decided to go 100% paperless. The editors meet in the editor's office where the SAXOTECH Planning center is projected onto the wall to discuss the stories of the day. I believe this may be our first U.S. customer to go without a printed budget. 11:28 p.m. CDT: All the pages are done and being proofed. 17 pages produced by the newsroom tonight. It turned out to be a great first night with SAXOTECH Editorial. No major problems, and only a few things to discuss and tweak for tomorrow. The customer picked the ideal mix of SuperUsers, which made the project run smoothly: associate editor, copy desk chief, sports editor, bureau chief. submitted by greg n |
