Omaha World-Herald to Capitalize on Local Revenue Opportunities with SAXOTECH’s Directory Publishing Center

TAMPA, Fla. – May 13, 2010 – SAXOTECH announced today Nebraska’s only statewide newspaper, the Omaha World-Herald, is the latest media company to implement SAXOTECH’s Directory Publishing Center, a turn-key business solution with advanced search functionality designed to enhance end-user experiences. The World-Herald, serving more than 500 cities and towns in Nebraska and western Iowa, will implement the solution across all online and mobile digital products as wells as its four daily editions, metro zoned product and numerous niche publications. The Directory Publishing Center is part of SAXOTECH’s Online Ad Solutions.

Supported on a hosted and managed platform, SAXOTECH’s Directory Publishing Center will provide the World-Herald with the capability to configure a wide range of searchable directories, guides and index products. Utilizing the Directory Publishing Center, the World-Herald will have the ability to present a unique section front for category-specific options, which can include coupons, sequenced list views with enhanced listings and “portfolio page” with the merchant or service provider’s detailed information.

“We are looking for the Directory Publishing Center to greatly expand the services that we offer our advertising customers,” said Larry King, the World-Herald’s vice president of content. “And we will be able to provide our online and mobile users with news content and advertising that is related and relevant.”

The Directory Publishing Center will enable the World-Herald to infuse its local editorial content with the listing services to create an enhanced consumer experience unavailable through other online sources. Through the use of “relevance technology,” which allows a consumer to be guided to interesting related content, their experience can be even further enhanced. Consumers viewing stories on the World-Herald’s online site can also be served links to business listings relevant to that story. The listings created utilizing SAXOTECH’s Directory Publishing Center mirror the World-Herald’s retail target zones to support hyper-local searches. Consumers may expand their searches by radius or to specific towns, categories or points-of-interest. As a result, the search possibilities are endless. This ability to reference back and forth between editorial content on the Web site and the directory service is a powerful traffic booster and a source of creating and maximizing local revenue opportunities.

“The World-Herald has always been an innovative and progressive media company, comfortable implementing new tools to keep them on the forefront of technology,” said Jesper Frank, senior vice president, sales and operations, SAXOTECH. “We look forward to continuing our partnership moving forward as we create new product innovations needed to stay competitive in this ever-changing marketplace.”
